Atop the Nile

We’ve all had those moments when life becomes so real and so unbelievable at the same time. Tiny or epic they are the times that make you breath in a little deeper and linger just a little longer to hold onto it.

We’d been in Egypt for a few days when we pulled over to take in what is quite possibly the most famous river in the world, the Nile. The hum of traffic behind us was barely noticeable as we set our eyes on the vastness of that massive river. I remember trying to recall the river ceremonies that happened in ancient Egypt, I should say with little success, and it just sort of hit me, to be in a place so far away, so foreign, so very ancient; it inspired a feeling of awe to just be privy to the experience. So simple, so fleeting, and yet I don’t think there was one among us who doesn’t recall that exact moment and feeling.
